Off-Work & On-Fun back Home :)

Hi to all of my very dear blog-pals!! Hmmm...Glad 2 know that a lot of activity has been going on in this very beautiful world of ours :) I'd been away last week - in fact had gone home to Chennai(Yup....My city!! Thatz where I was born n brought up - though am a North Indian hailing from Rajasthan) for a much needed break :)

So I'll dedicate the space in this post to my 'Mother City' - 'Chennai'.
Well talking about mother.....I was feeling so home-sick off late, that going back home n having the pleasure of eating that heavenly 'Maa ke haath kaa khaana' (Food cooked by my mother) was nothing less than a divine feeling. After having inculcated the 'choiceless-habit' of having the breakfast n lunch @ Office, that was what I was longing for from a long time....My Mother is the best cook in the world.....and yes I know many out there would share the same sentiment about their Mothers.....indeed, afterall who else than a Mother would know best, as to what her child likes most.

Chennai.....the heart n gateway of South India is the 'Home of MS'.....hey jus kidding!!!! :)
Chennai is truly a city, popular n famous for its heritage n culture. And being a metro, is also a very important business n commercial hub, now even more after being amongst the top 3 patrons of our booming IT industry. Though the most 'complained about creature' against this city, is its 'Torrid Weather'....yeah I do agree, it getz really sultry n hot out there, but still thatz the way it is N we still love it for what it is!! :)

Well...this time round, did not go around the city much except for the 'Ever-Long' stretch of Marina and the Spencer Plaza , rather took comfort staying @ home n spending time with my family n relatives. Had also been to the offices of my corporate in chennai n met my 'College buddies turned colleagues' and other friends......N in course of doing all this had loads n loads of FUN interspersed!! Well...I guess thatz enough of what I did @ my home town......now 2 all of U who've NEVER been to this wonderful city, but plan 2 do so in the near future, I'll put on the 'Cap of a Guide' :) for some time n suggest you a few important places worth visiting in the city....

First on the chart is the scenic Marina beach. A beautiful stretch where the 'Dancing waves of the sea' going up n down, talk to the 'layer of the sand-clad land'. And on a sunday, you would ideally feel as if the whole of chennai crowd has converged @ this natural beauty!!

Spencer plaza is located in the heart of the city on Anna Salai(popularly known as Mount Road). Itz one of the largest n best shopping malls of the city, which can be placed in the same grade as the 'Hyderabad Central' out here, but provides a lot more of variety while shopping :). Though I must admit, Spencers is more often than not thronged (for most part of a week) by the College crowd who come-in to hang around n have fun, more likely window-shopping, than actual shopping....agree V to used to do the same when in college :)

Kapaleeshwara Temple is a standing testimonial of the rich culture n heritage of the city and itz classical Dravidian spirit. It is perhaps the oldest temple of south India, famous for its impressive gopurams, mandapams and a tank typical of the temple structures of Tamil Nadu. The temple also displays beautifully inscribed scriptures of the past.

Satyam Cinemas is the place to be in chennai, if you are a week-end movie buff. Itz the best in class n screens movies of all genre in English, Hindi N Tamil . Again to give an idea, can be compared to be in the same grade as the 'Prasadz' group out here in Hyderabad, though not so grandeur n diverse in its offerings as Prasadz Imax. In fact Satyam cinemas, after being the first to introduce the concept of Multiplex in the city, could now well be the first to introduce the IMAX concept too!!

While the above spots are located in the heart of the city, if you wanna have a day's outing of fun during the weekend with the family n friends, away from the hustle n bustle of the city - Kishkinta is the place 4 U to be @.....And as they say, itz truly "the favourite fun destination for kids from six to sixty". Itz a culmination of various attractions, water games and rides, and thatz what makes it India's No. 1 Theme Park. The major crowd-puller though is the Kuttralam waterfall, which is surprisingly a 63 feet high, man-made wonder!!

Though there r many other places of interest, the above mentioned ones are my personal favourites :) Hmmm...so that was a little info about my 'Mother city' from her son!! :) Hope you people do visit these landmarks whenever you have the opportunity to visit the 'Gateway of South India'.......

Reminiscences N Expectances....The Cycle of Life

As another year passed by, leaving its trails - those moments of Happiness N moments of Sadness, those moments of Joy N moments of Sorrow, those moments of Exultation N moments of Dejection, those moments of Rejoice N moments of Remorse - behind;
And as the Dawn of the New Year ushers in and leads us in to a new phase of our lives, I jus wanted to share my feelings which I could associate so well with this mail recently from one of my friends. Itz titled "Seasons of our Lives" and this is all it speaks out itself......

"The following pictures are of the same place but taken in different seasons...

Lessons on Life

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge
things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that comes from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter,
you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and the fulfillment of your fall.

Moral lessons:
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere as nothing stays the same forever."

So herez MS signing off, reiterating once again that - "The Purpose of Life is to Live a Life of Purpose. Letz Cherish, Njoy, Share, Make-worthy every moment of this beautiful gift called 'Life' given to us by God, on our this trip to the wondeful EArTH....."

"Zindagi ki yahi reet hai
Haar ke baad hi jeet hai
Thode aansu hai, thodi hasin
Aaj gum hai to kal hai khushi...."
